Clinical Trials

When considering treatment for a primary or metastatic brain tumor, some people consider clinical trials. Clinical trials can be a treatment consideration for all genders, ages and stages of the disease, from diagnosis to recurrence.

Brain Tumor Clinical Trials

A clinical trial is a research study to determine if a new treatment or medical device is safe and effective or if a new treatment or device offers any benefit or advantage over treatments that are currently available.

Speak with your doctor or healthcare team to discuss if a clinical trial is right for you.

Featured Clinical Studies

The ABTA Featured Clinical Studies Program aims to provide patients and caregivers a way to easily understand and navigate to available clinical trials and other types of patient studies (i.e. registries, surveys) to increase patient consideration and participation. The ABTA Featured Clinical Studies Program allows medical centers and companies to pay to have their clinical study featured on the ABTA website. All clinical studies listed have been reviewed by an Institutional Review Board, as required by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Clinical Trials Guide

This booklet describes how research studies, called clinical trials, are used to discover new ways to prevent, detect and treat brain tumors.

Explore Clinical Trials

Clinicaltrials.gov is a free service of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and is maintained by the National Library of Medicine. The database includes an extensive list of privately and publicly-funded clinical trials throughout the U.S. and the world. You can search with generic terms (brain tumor, brain cancer) or by specific tumor type.

NCI-CONNECT is currently conducting clinical trials for 12 rare tumor types. If you are diagnosed with one of these 12 tumor types, speak with your doctor or call NCI-Connect at 1-866-251-9686 to discuss potential eligibility.
