According to research, about 5 percent of women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer will also develop brain metastases.
Cancer in the breast, lung, colon, kidney and skin are the most common cancers that metastasize, or spread, to the brain. Each year, approximately 200,000 to 400,000 adults in the U.S. are diagnosed with a metastatic brain tumor.
The ABTA launched the Metastatic Brain Tumor Initiative to serve this often-overlooked patient population with education, support services and tools to empower their decision-making.
As part of the ongoing effort, the ABTA is hosting a free webinar, in partnership with Living Beyond Breast Cancer, to inform how breast cancer care is impacted by brain metastases.
Join us live on Wednesday, March 30 at 1 p.m. Central Time. Breast cancer patients, survivors, caregivers, and loved ones are invited to:
- Learn about the risk factors, signs and symptoms, treatment options, and management for brain metastases in breast cancer.
- Recognize the members of your care team, their roles, and the importance of a tumor board.
- Understand the next steps in your care and explore research and treatment advancements.
- Participate in a Q&A session with speakers.
