From Fun to Research Power: How Creative Fundraising Drives Brain Tumor Research

fundraise your way for new years

Every dollar counts when it comes to brain tumor research, and creative fundraising events can turn fun moments into powerful contributions for groundbreaking discoveries. By taking initiative and organizing your own event, you can amplify support for critical research and make a meaningful impact in the brain tumor community.

The Impact of Donations on Research

A few years ago, over 330 individuals united to fund a $50,000 research grant during GBM Awareness Day in July. Their efforts culminated in a virtual concert honoring Neil Peart of Rush, who bravely battled glioblastoma (GBM). This collaborative spirit directly funded innovative research aimed at making GBM cells more responsive to standard treatments like radiation and chemotherapy. The result? An ABTA Discovery Grant that propels hope for extending survival rates and improving quality of life for GBM patients

Creative Fundraising in Action

In 2021, content creator Ben S. mobilized his online community for an extraordinary charity livestream. In just three hours, his audience contributed over $12,000 to the ABTA. Donations ranged from 50 cents to $1,000, with an average of $40—proving that small contributions, when combined, can fuel big change. Ben’s inspiration? His mom, who was diagnosed with a brain tumor when he was five.

“People are generous and want to give,” Ben said. “Hosting a charity speedrun gave them a fun and engaging way to support a cause close to my heart.”

How You Can Get Involved

Imagine the possibilities when you bring your creativity to fundraising:

  • Host a virtual talent show or concert.
  • Plan a themed walk or run, inviting friends and family to join.
  • Use your social media platform to rally support, just like Ben did.

Crowdfunding: Small Donations, Big Impact

Whether you’re donating $5 or $500, every contribution helps fund research grants, support early-career scientists, and back innovative projects exploring new treatment options. By creating your own fundraiser, you’re not just raising money—you’re igniting change. You can even turn your special occasions, like new year parties or birthday parties, into fundraising events. Every dollar counts and we can help you organize your event every step of the way.
